I need a serious makeover

I have always been a fan of interior design, but over the past few weeks it has become such an obsession! Since moving to my new place in January, I still have yet to decorate it and I think the stark walls and empty spaces are finally getting to me! I've found myself perusing archives of design blogs until 3am, searching for inspiration and ideas to turn my boring apartment into a beautiful and cozy home. Must be the Luck of the Irish

....except, I'm not Irish. So I guess it's just luck. :)

I am one LUCKY girl! The other day, after battling traffic and running errands on opposite sides of the planet, I came home to find THE most delicious meal I have ever had. No joke.
In my kitchen was the most glorious display of culinary genius ever witnessed. I'm sure you are wondering who was behind all of this. Did Bobby Flay decide to drop by? Was it Rachel Ray who decided to host her "30min Meals" in my house? Maybe it was Paula Dean with her fabulously rich cooking style?
No, EVEN BETTER, it was my boyfriend Kenny! One word. AH-MAZ-ING!!!
That evening I savored a porterhouse steak, cooked to pure perfection, creamy, melt-in-your-mouth, mashed potatoes and fresh corn cut right off the cob. It was so delious, I didn't even stop to think about taking a picture of it before diving right in. I did, however, come to my senses before desert and had a mini photoshoot with the star of the show. Bananas Flambee in a delicious brown sugar coconut rum sauce poured over icecream. Let me tell ya, it was to die for!!!
There are not many girls I know who get this lucky! :)

Oh Baby!

So, for those of you that know me, I’m sure you are aware that I am not a morning person! It takes about five alarms to get me out of bed every morning and even then I still get ready at a snail’s pace until I’m finally ready to go. It’s horrible! You know, it’s not that I don’t want to be a morning person. I feel like there’s this “cool club” of morning people that I’m totally not a part of…I’m the creepy emo kid sitting in the corner.

I see them all the time (the morning people)… jogging, eating breakfast or having coffee with friends before work, they're getting so many more hours in their day because they wake up early and I am soooo jealous!!! I'd kill to be one of those people!
I actually envision myself jumping out of bed like Richard Simmons, blasting some tunes while I hop around brushing my teeth every morning….*sigh* HOW AWESOME WOULD THAT BE!? Maybe one day I’ll get there, but for now, I’ve really been making an effort to change my morning habits by scheduling meetings and photo-shoots early in the day. Kind of like my own self-help program!

So, with that said, here are some recent shots from one of my morning sessions.
I must say, this shoot was totally worth getting up for!!

Anam Cara

They say distance makes the heart grow fonder. Watching Andrea & Alek on their wedding day was a true testament to this statement.

When Andrea first contacted me, she was more than 5,000 miles away in Granada, Spain, while her fiancé was here in Texas! Throughout the course of several emails, we had the opportunity to learn a lot about each other and one of the things I’ve found I admire most about them is their ability to spend so much time a part and still preserve their relationship. Between Alek’s military deployments and Andrea’s love for traveling, these two really know the meaning of "long distance." After her four month stay in Spain, Andrea returned one week before the wedding and I met with them for lunch at their wonderful wedding venue, the Rioja Tapas Restaurant in Houston. Witnessing them on that day and during their wedding, there is no denying the love and passion this beautiful couple shares. I am convinced they could spend an eternity apart and still reunite with a fire nothing could ever extinguish.

As Andrea and Alek like to put it, they are Anam Cara (Soul Friends) and I was so fortunate to document the day they also became husband and wife.

Thank you, Alek and Andrea for allowing me to be a part of your special day! I can’t wait for our newlywed session in the Spring!

As you can see...I have Waaaayyyy too many favorites...I had to force myself to stop.
Also, you may notice my logo banner changed several times throughout the year...You'll be happy to know, I've figured out exactly how I want it and it will remain that way. It's late and I was too lazy to go and make every logo banner uniform, so for you anal-rententives out there...I'm sorry :)

Happy Thanksgiving...

I know I'm a little late on the whole Thanksgiving post, but I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday spending time with friends and family! Mine was great! I stayed up till 2am the night before preparing side dishes, but it was totaly worth it the next day, cause my food rocked! My boyfirend, Kenny, and I also made some delicious cheesecakes! He's become so addicted to the Food network recently and I am loving every second of it! He'll watch a show, go buy all the ingredients and then come home and try out the recipie... it's amazing! I'm hoping it's not just a phase, cause this is one habit a girl could get used to!!!

I had the pleasure of photographing Ashley & Blake's wedding a few weeks ago, here are a few sneak peeks from the wedding plus a few from Ashley's bridal session! Enjoy!

This little girl was soo cute! We were in the park and she saw Ashley from the top of the Hilton Hotel. She thought Ashley was a princess, so she made her parents walk all the way to where we were so she could meet her! The mom pulled out her camera phone to get a shot of her little girl with "Princess" Ashley!

So, a couple of weeks ago, My friend Z and I were lucky enough to catch the HOTEL CAFE TOUR show when they came to Houston... It was such a great show. I'll be posting a little more on it later, but for now, you have to check out Priscilla Ahn (One of the many talented musicians that night) !!! This girl is UH-MAZING!!!! You must take a look at the video I've posted below, I am so in love with this song! It's called "Dream"

I'm so addicted

Seriously, I really think I need help! Lol I'm so addicted to magazines lately! I probably buy about two to three magazines a week. It's crazy, I get this urge, like I just have to get another one! I actually get a lot of inspiration from browsing the ads though and I love everything about the design layouts and graphics! So, If anyone wants to feed my habit and buy me a subscription to a really cool magazine, I wouldn't mind at all! :)
With that said, I would like to tell everyone about a really awesome art photography magazine I was introduced to recently, It's called Soura Magazine. If you like photography, you must check it out! You can find it at Barnes and Noble.

Hiatus

So, I've been on hiatus from blogging for a while, but I'm back!! Life has been crazy lately! I hope everyone is doing okay after Hurricane Ike. I'm just ready for things to get back to normal, hopefully it doesn't take too long. My heart goes out to all those who lost loved ones or their homes in this disaster. The sun will rise again, things can only get better from here. :)

I can’t wait!

To go see Sex and the City!!!!!!! My girls and I are huge fans of the show, so of course we wouldn’t miss this movie for anything! It’s been a while since I’ve went out and got all dressed up, so my girls and I are going to get all glammed up, have a night out and see the movie! I’ll have to post some pictures of our fabulous night next week! If you haven’t seen the trailer…here it is! This movie is a must see!

Oh and speaking of getting all glammed up…. Guess who will be getting to play dress up in my free Trash the dress photoshoot........ Tu-Anh Connelly! Three little birds

Ever have one of those days when everything seems to be going wrong? Well, I was having one of those days last week. Everything was off! I was running late, stressing out about deadlines, nervous about a meeting a new client, spilled a cup of tea all over my shirt just as I was heading out the door and once I finally got to my car, that little “low fuel” light came on. I was thinking “Could this morning get any worst?” Ugh!!!!
So as I’m driving down the road, I’m switching radio stations (I’m a chronic radio-station- changer btw) and accidentally hit a button and somehow I end up on some random station that I’ve never been to..... Then, out of no where, an old familiar tune comes drifting out of the speakers singing “Don’t worry... about a thing... cause every little thing.. gonna be all right.” I hadn’t heard this song in years. My mom used to play this song all the time with her collection of old music. Suddenly, I was at ease…. It kind of put everything in perspective and I realized all the little negative things I was focusing on weren’t that big of deal and the fact that I was putting all my energy into this negativity was probably making my day worst.
I love how music can change your whole attitude and take you back to a place you were so long ago . I can’t imagine what this world would be like without music. It’s definitely a source of constant inspiration for me. With that said, I hope you enjoy the song. I put it on my blog. It’s “Three Little Birds” by the legendary Bob Marley.

Rejuvenated

(I actually wrote this a couple of days ago, but, due to technical difficulties was unable to post anything, so here it is!)

For the past week I have been soakin’ up the sun in beautiful southern California and it has been amazing! I rarely get a chance these days to just sit back and relax, so it was pretty nice to take a break from my “work mode” which I’m usually in 24-7. I have tons of great pictures to post from the trip, but for now….. I’ll just show you a few shots of the view I enjoyed every day!

Oh and I know I promised to let you in on my big news, but I think it deserves a post of its own, so stay tuned and I’ll post that blog soon!!!!

Dear Bloggers,

Sorry it has been ages since I’ve written. Please forgive me…..pretty please??

I’ve been buried under piles of work, but I’m finally starting to dig my way through it! The past couple of months have been pretty darn hectic! I’ve gotta tell ya though, no matter how stressful it can all get, I never loose sight of how blessed I am. I’ve actually been thinking about that a lot lately and I am so thankful for every opportunity which has been thrown my way and for all the talent I have been given.

You see, four short years ago I was at a cross road and at such a difficult place in my life. I was about to move 950 miles away from home to, St. Louis, to pursue my junior year in a premed program. I had everything planned out for my life, but God had other plans for me. That summer my mom became extremely ill and I felt like my world was crumbling all around me, she had always been my rock and I was loosing her. During that time I came to realize how much I hated hospitals and the atmosphere that came with it. I could never make in emotionally in such a depressing place. Suddenly, what I had thought I wanted all my life, wasn’t what I wanted. I didn’t have a clue what direction I was heading in. I stayed home, took that semester off and six months later I had an epiphany. They say you should choose a career in something you love, something you are passionate about. For me, that was art. I’ve loved art ever since I can remember. So soon after I came to that realization, my boyfriend and my brother bought me my first digital camera and I fell in love with digital photography. Now here I am today, focused and determined to make a living doing what I love and so far, it’s off to a great start. I feel like I’ve grown so much in the last year and I can’t wait to see what lies down the road!

I have lots of exciting news to share, but I’ll save that for the next post! For now, check out some of my most recent work. I hope you like it! I’ll be in California this upcoming week, so my next post will be coming to you from sunny San Diego! I have some big news to share, so stay tuned!!!

Dreaming of a white Christmas
